1975

As a successful film production company in Colombia, Gustavo Nieto Roa launches Centauro, its language dubbing facilities in Bogotá, taking advantage of the sound studios used for the production of his movies.

 
  1976 Gustavo Nieto Roa visits dubbing studios in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.  
  1977 Centauro commences its Spanish dubbing service with the series "I Love Lucy" for APA International of Miami.  
  1978 We dubbed "Harold Lloyd" features films for Time Life and "The Art of Selling" documentaries for McGraw Hill.  
  1980 Columbia Pictures awards Centauro a package of feature films to dub into neutral Spanish.  
  1985 Michael Solomon of Telepictures, later President of Warner Intl Distribution in Los Angeles, hires Centauro as its dubbing house.   
  1988 HBO New York hires Centauro to dub its productions as they start broadcasting in the US both in English and Spanish.  
  1992 With the launching of TNT and the pan-regional cable networks in Latin America and Brazil, Centauro expands its operations and inaugurates its first studios in Sao Paulo, Brazil to offer Portuguese dubbing.  
    Centauro becomes HIT Entertainment's dubbing partner for the series 'Barney and Friends'.  
  1993 Cartoon Network launches it pan regional satellite feed into Latin America, and Centauro becomes one of its dubbing houses.  
  1994 Discovery Channel starts broadcasting in Spanish and Centauro is chosen as its dubbing studio.  
  1995 20th Century Fox hires Centauro to dub and create The Folley for its award winning series, COPS. Since then Centauro has been dubbing Cops, now in its 20th season.  
  1996 We expand our subtitling division into Spanish and Portuguese.  
  1997 Centauro is awarded the dubbing of the famous children's series, 'The Teletubbies' for BBC, England.  
  2003 Centauro goes from Analog to Digital in all of its studios.  
  2004 Sesame Workshop hires Centauro as its dubbing partner for 'Plaza Sésamo', a coproduction with Televisa  
  2005 WE CELEBRATE OUR 30th ANNIVERSARY!  
    Centauro expands by opening its Dubbing Studios in Miami, to dub into English.   
  2006 We start working into English with Grupo Mediaset, Italian's largest commercial broadcaster in that country.  
    We dub into Portuguese top children's series such as 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'Pokemon' and 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'  
  2007 Centauro Bogotá is hired by New Line Cinema to do the ADR in Spanish of the feature film 'Love in the Time of Cholera' with Javier Bardem, Giovana Mezzogiorno and Alejandra Borrero.  
    PBS hires Centauro to dub into Spanish it's award winning documentary series "The War A Ken Burns Film'  
  2008 Centauro acquires Sony High Definition equipment for all of its studios.   
  2009 We upgrade and expand our operations in Sao Paulo by moving to a more modern and bigger building and we inaugurate our 5.1 mixing studio.  
    Gustavo Nieto Roa returns to his roots of film-making by directing and producing 'Entre Sábanas' with Marlon Moreno and Karina Mora, and in Brazil, 'Entre Lencois' with Reynaldo Giannichini and Paola Oliveira. All the post production work is done in our facilities in Bogotá and Sao Paulo.  
  2010 SDI Group hires Centauro Do Brazil to do the dubbing into Portuguese of several top series such as Bakugan, Hot Wheels, Babar, Pokemon and Hero Factory.  
    Our English dubbing operations continue to grow. We work with several European and Canadian independent film companies. We dub into English series for HBO, Turner, TV Globo and Sony Pictures.  
  2011 At the Cannes Film Festival, Delphis Films debuted the English version of the Dutch movie, 'Fuchsia the Mini Witch'. Centauro had the honor of dubbing this HD film into English. The film is produced by Nijenhuis & de Levita Film & TV and released in Benelux by Walt Disney Studios  
    After being in the dubbing industry for 36 years we are happy to have in our family of actors and translators more than 170 freelancers, many of them started with Centauro from the very beginning. Now many of their children and grand-children are part of our team too!
